IQ Option vs Quotex: comparison 2026

What does each platform offer?

The two sell the same surface promise: trading from the browser or the phone with small amounts and fast outcomes. The real differences are in the catalogue, in the product model and in who signs the contract.

The first trap is treating them as the same product with a different logo. They look alike in the shop window and differ in what only appears when you read the small print: catalogue, the mix of CFDs and digital options, and the legal entity that signs the terms.

IQ Option: what is documented

The platform started up in 2013, according to its own corporate timeline. The company states around 550 assets, more than 100 million registered users and a presence in some 180 countries; these are figures it publishes about itself, and a registered account is not the same as an active trader. The catalogue mixes CFDs on currencies, shares, cryptocurrencies, ETFs, commodities and indices, and outside the European Economic Area it keeps the fixed-time digital options. On its front page it shows a 4.3 on Trustpilot, an operator figure that moves over time.

Quotex: what to look at before comparing it

Here we are deliberately brief: in this review we confirm no official Quotex figure, not minimums, not payouts, not assets, not a licence, and we do not invent any to fill in a table. What is useful is the procedure: go to its official site, note the exact name of the company and its jurisdiction in the footer, and look in the terms for the section on instruments. With those three details you can already place it next to the IQ Option column.

Two product models that are not identical

The comparison works when each row puts the same question to both sides:

If the fixed-time product interests you in depth, we develop it separately on the page about binary and digital options.

A table is worth less for the figures it carries than for the questions it forces you to put to each platform by the same yardstick.

How do they compare on security?

The useful question is not which is "safer" in the abstract, but which entity answers to you as a resident in Mexico and what mechanisms each one states about the custody of the money.

Who supervises you, specifically

At IQ Option the structure is published and easy to follow. A client resident in Mexico contracts with SKY LADDER LLC, a company of Antigua and Barbuda with registration number ILLC 004 and an address at The Colony House, 41 Nevis Street, Saint John's. CySEC licence 247/14 belongs to IQBroker Europe Ltd, the Cypriot entity that serves the European Economic Area exclusively: it does not cover a Mexican client and presenting it as if it did would be a misreading. In Mexico, IQ Option does not claim a local licence or CNBV supervision; that absence does not make the activity illegal, since a foreign intermediary may accept clients who seek it out on their own initiative, but it does change who you can turn to if something goes wrong. The full detail is on the page about legality in Mexico.

For Quotex, do the same exercise instead of looking for an opinion: identify the company in the footer, its jurisdiction, whether it mentions a licence number and, if it does, look that number up in the public register of the regulator that issued it. A number that does not appear in the official register is not a number.

What happens to the money deposited

IQ Option states that client funds are held in segregated bank accounts, separate from the company's operating resources, and says it has completed the transition to the PCI DSS 4.x standard. These are statements by the operator, not certificates from an authority. And there is a clear limit: the European investor compensation schemes cover the Cypriot entity and residents of the European Economic Area, and the Mexican protections do not apply to an unregistered foreign intermediary.

Identity verification, on the good side

Both ask for verification. It is a nuisance at the start and a protection afterwards: it stops someone withdrawing money in your name to an account that is not yours. IQ Option registration also confirms that you are of legal age. Before depositing your first peso, have these four points settled:

  • The full name and jurisdiction of the company you are signing with, copied from the terms and conditions.
  • What each operator says about the custody of client funds, in its exact words.
  • Which documents verification asks for and at what point in the process it demands them.
  • What route of complaint remains if the withdrawal gets stuck, and who it is submitted to.

A licence is only worth something for the territory it covers: before comparing it, check whether your own country falls inside that scope.

How do they compare on costs?

The visible cost is the minimum deposit; the one that decides your outcome is spread across the spread, the payout offered per trade and the conditions of withdrawal. Only the first is clearly published.

The minimum deposit and what it really means

IQ Option states on its own page an entry threshold from 10 USD, which can vary by payment method and country: the amount shown in your account's cashier is what counts. A low minimum is a good sign of accessibility and a poor guide to budgeting. We expand on the point on the minimum deposit page.

Where the real cost hides

Neither the minimum size per trade, nor withdrawal fees, nor any inactivity fee, nor bonus terms are published by IQ Option on a stable official page that we have been able to verify. That is why we put no figures here: the cashier and the current terms put them there. The table below does not compare amounts, it compares where each amount is found.

Cost lineWhere you check it on IQ OptionWhere you check it on Quotex

SPEI and OXXO: the Mexican part of the account

It is the question searched for most and answered least from firsthand knowledge. We do not confirm in an official source that IQ Option accepts SPEI or OXXO deposits, nor the opposite: the list of methods is generated inside the cashier and depends on the country and the state of the account. One surprising rule is documented, though: you can deposit with Bitcoin, but not withdraw funds in crypto, because profits are paid in fiat currency. We set it out in the guide to SPEI and OXXO.

Always compare the same asset at the same hour: an isolated payout percentage, with no pair and no time attached, says nothing about which platform works out dearer.

What are their apps like?

IQ Option has an application for the browser, Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, with published sizes and requirements. For Quotex the starting point is its own downloads menu and its app store listing.

Where each one installs

IQ Option publishes its downloads menu with explicit requirements: a web version with no installation, a 130 MB Windows client for Windows 7 or later, a 163.3 MB macOS client for macOS 12.0 or later, a 74 MB Android app on Google Play from Android 7.0, an official 74 MB APK compatible from Android 5.1, and a 163.3 MB iOS app for iOS 15 or later. On the APK, a warning with no nuance: download it only from the official site. Third-party mirrors are the classic vector for tampered applications. The correct route is described in our guide to the official APK.

For Quotex, check its official downloads menu and its app store listing: date of the last update, size, minimum system version and the developer responsible. An out-of-date listing is information, not a verdict.

The demo as a test bench

Both offer practice with no real money, the most honest comparison tool you have to hand. IQ Option loads the demo with 10,000 USD in virtual funds and lets you top it up as many times as you like, though that balance is not withdrawable. The sensible move is to open the IQ Option demo account and give it a week; the demo account page explains how to make the most of it.

How to try both without spending a peso

  1. Open the demo of each platform with the same browser and the same device.
  2. Choose a single currency pair and a single time slot, the first hour of the New York session for instance.
  3. Note, on both, the payout or the spread they offer at that exact moment.
  4. Run the same number of identical trades and record latency, rejections and the behaviour of the chart.
  5. Repeat the exercise on three different days before drawing conclusions.

Beyond practising strategies, the demo is the only test bench where you can measure two platforms by the same yardstick and without risking capital.

What is the verdict?

IQ Option wins on what can be verified: a track record since 2013, a published corporate structure, documented application requirements and a generous demo. On Quotex we issue no verdict because we did not verify its details.

A useful verdict also says what it does not know. This one says so up front: we have not opened an account with either of them, we have not deposited or withdrawn, and we do not score Quotex with details we did not check.

What each one puts on the table

On the IQ Option side there is a reasonably complete public file: twelve years of operation, an explicit separation between the European entity with a CySEC licence and the Antigua and Barbuda one that serves the rest of the world, a statement of fund segregation and applications for the five usual ways in. On the Quotex side there is its own official documentation, which you can read with the questions from the first table in hand.

Who each platform suits

If you want to move from fixed-time trades to CFDs on shares, indices or commodities without changing house, IQ Option covers that transition in the same account, and likewise if you are after a native desktop client on Windows or Mac. If your priority is one specific Mexican funding method, no theoretical comparison helps: the answer is in the cashier.

And the part almost nobody writes: IQ Option is not the right option if you are looking for an intermediary supervised by the CNBV, if you need the cover of an investor compensation fund or if you were expecting to withdraw in cryptocurrencies what you deposited in cryptocurrencies. Nor is it if you need the capital you are thinking of committing: trading CFDs and options involves a high risk and the possibility of losing everything invested.

The verifiable advantage of IQ Option

Its concrete advantage is traceability: entity, registration number, address, the scope of the European licence, the requirements of each application and the demo balance are all written down and can be quoted verbatim. For someone just starting out, checking who the counterparty is is worth more than a payout percentage promised in an advertising image.

If after all this you want to form an opinion of your own, the order we recommend is simple: look over the platform from the inside, weigh what you see against our full review and, if loose doubts remain, look also at the comparison with Olymp Trade, which sets out the same exercise with another competitor.

Details verified against the operator's official pages on 30 August 2026.

Faced with two platforms, choose the one that lets you check more things for yourself: verifiability ages better than any promotion.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, IQ Option or Quotex?

It depends on what you need and on what you can check. IQ Option offers a verifiable public file: it has operated since 2013, publishes its corporate structure, states fund segregation and details the requirements of each application. On Quotex we confirm no official figures in this review, so we do not score it: put the same questions to both.

Which company do I sign the contract with if I live in Mexico?

With SKY LADDER LLC, a company registered in Antigua and Barbuda under number ILLC 004 with an address at The Colony House, 41 Nevis Street, Saint John's. CySEC licence 247/14 belongs to IQBroker Europe Ltd and covers only the European Economic Area, so it does not reach a Mexican client.

Can I compare the two without depositing money?

Yes, and it is the advisable thing to do. Both offer practice with no real money; the IQ Option demo comes with 10,000 USD in virtual funds that can be topped up, though that balance is not withdrawable. Open both, choose the same asset and the same time slot, and compare payout, spread and chart behaviour over several days.

Which one accepts SPEI or OXXO?

We do not assert it either way, because we did not confirm it in official sources. The list of methods is generated inside the cashier and varies by country and by account. What is documented at IQ Option is that you can deposit with Bitcoin but not withdraw in cryptocurrencies: withdrawals of profits are processed in fiat currency.

Is either of the two authorised in Mexico?

IQ Option does not claim a Mexican licence or CNBV supervision, and its official regulation page mentions only the Cypriot licence for the European Economic Area and the Antigua and Barbuda entity for the rest of the world. The absence of a local licence is not the same as illegality, but it does mean you do not have the routes of complaint that apply to an entity registered in Mexico.
